Touching Lives, Making a Difference

Are you looking for a place where your contributions truly help others? Do you want to discover how to grow vegetables – including ones you’ve never tried? Have you ever wondered how a vegetable looks when growing? This program supports underprivileged communities and teaches people of all ages how to grow vegetables sustainably. Volunteer your time with AMA Houston on December 2, 2022 and help strengthen our local food pantries with fresh vegetables.

Participate in bringing fresh vegetables to those in need in our immediate community!

About God’s Garden

God’s Garden, established in 2000, primarily provided fresh veggies to people in local communities. Vegetables are now specifically farmed for food pantries as part of its expansion. The vision also involves:

  • Fostering community harmony.
  • Assisting young people in completing community service hours.
  • Serving as an educational resource for teaching and disseminating knowledge we have acquired over the previous 18 years.

God’s Garden, a Christ-centered community garden, was established to provide fresh vegetables for underprivileged communities and teach people of all ages how to grow vegetables sustainably. We began gardening at another location, but since then, that property has been sold. We now have a new location at 1125 Hwy. 90A, Missouri City, Texas (behind Second Mile Mission) in Fort Bend County. At this new location, we have begun a garden section which is 1/2 acre (est.). The total possible garden area could total 6+ acres in the future. God’s Garden became a 501c3 non-profit in 2016.

We will meet by God’s Garden at 7 am. We expect to hit the fields and harvest vegetables.

Special Instructions:
Please wear long pants, enclosed shoes, a hat, and sunscreen (if needed). Bring water, snacks, bug spray, etc.

About AMA Gives Back

AMA Gives Back, the philanthropic arm of AMA Houston, was established in 2008 and has given more than $150,000 in grants to Houston non-profit organizations. Grant recipients can use the money to support numerous advertising campaigns to raise awareness of their causes, enabling them to carry out their goals and offer assistance and services to communities in and around Houston.

While the grant program has historically been the focal point of this initiative, AMA Gives Back also gives members the chance to support nonprofits by giving their time and talents. Join us this year for “Volunteer Harvest Day” at God’s Garden to harvest organic vegetables to feed the hungry in our area.
