Rice University is currently seeking to hire an Associate Director, Marketing and Communications. Reporting to the Rice Business Executive Director of Executive Education, you will be responsible for designing, creating, deploying, tracking and measuring integrated marketing strategies and projects supporting executive education programming and audience-specific initiatives offered through Rice Business Executive Education (RBEE). Your strategies and tactics must drive and support annual registration and revenue goals, increase awareness and contribute to the overall success of RBEE and its open and custom programming. Your plans and projects will incorporate an integrated mix of appropriate tactics and media, such as online/web advertising, search engine marketing, direct mail, radio, social, web content, recruitment materials, etc. In addition, you will work in collaboration with Rice Business faculty, the Senior Associate Dean for Executive Education, the Executive Director of Marketing, and the RBEE business development and client management teams to meet goals for assigned EE marketing and sales channel projects and portfolios.


Overseeing strategic long-range plans/programs to meet organizational
objectives for RBEE and Rice Business marketing

Effectively track and measure campaign success and ROI through regular monitoring and reporting of data through the entire enrollment funnel; from lead generation and nurturing through registration and participation

Defines and / or leverages the communication and brand strategy for EE programming, sectors, audiences and initiatives supporting the RBEE portfolio of open and custom programming, business development and sales initiatives incorporating appropriate channels

Sets and monitors budgets for broad based projects impacting many areas

Selects and oversees the department vendor relationships

Writes, designs, and coordinates the production of marketing and communication materials for all RBEE programs

Leads market research and analysis efforts

Guides organization to use the results in strategic marketing direction, product segmentation and customer targeting

Participates in university-wide and / or organization-wide initiatives and cross-functional teams to establish the organization as a strategic partner and thought leader; serve as the RBEE branding SME to ensure consistent tone and voice

Provide guidance to others

Performs all other duties as assigned


Bachelor’s Degree in business, marketing, advertising, communications or related field

5 years related experience in marketing, communications or brand management

Strong communication skills both oral and written

Organization and creativity skills

Strategic and analytical problem-solving skills

Demonstrated success in designing, developing, and creating marketing collateral and implementing integrated marketing strategies and projects

Ability to manage a website and social media channels

Strong project management skills

Strong relationship building skills and ability to manage stakeholder expectations

Flexible, creative thinker open to new ideas and changing priorities within a fast-paced organization

Understanding of key marketing analytics including conversion rates and optimization
