Memorial Park Conservancy is a private, nonprofit organization that operates and maintains 1,100 of the Park’s 1,500 acres. Founded in 2000, Memorial Park Conservancy aspires to implement principles of exceptional park management and stewardship in a successful public-private partnership with the Houston Parks and Recreation Department (HPARD). The Conservancy’s mission is to restore, preserve, and enhance Memorial Park for the enjoyment of all Houstonians, today and tomorrow.

We are currently seeking to hire a Development Communications Coordinator. In this role, you will be responsible for supporting the marketing and communications efforts for the development team and liaising with the Communications Team at Memorial Park Conservancy. In addition, the selected candidate will be responsible for imagining, creating, and producing a variety of written communications materials to inspire donor support for Memorial Park Conservancy.

This is a salary, exempt role with a range of $40,000 – $45,000 commensurate with skills and experience. Benefits include full medical, dental and vision benefits, paid time off, short-and long-term disability, and 401k retirement plan.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Synthesize content into compelling, donor-centric materials that align with the tone and brand of Memorial Park Conservancy

Develop and implement a consistent and effective communications plan and calendar for all fundraising initiatives

Assist with the design, development and production of all donor-based publications and fundraising materials, including direct mail appeals, e-campaigns, event invitations, event collateral, campaign marketing materials, donor presentations, cases for support, gift proposals and grant reports

Develop content for all external development communications, including website updates, social media posts and e-communications in conjunction with the Communications Team

Serve as first-line proofer for fundraising materials for fact, grammar, punctuation, AP Style, tightness and storytelling clarity, and provide editorial suggestions on copy produced by colleagues

Manage development team printing projects and liaise with appropriate vendors

Create and coordinate a development team social media plan and work with Communications Team to execute

Coordinate photography and videography for development team needs with vendors

Attend development events and take archival photographs and video

Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring that all internal and external deadlines are met

REQUIREMENTS:

Excellent interpersonal, analytical, organizational, time management, outreach, communication (verbal and written), and customer service skills

Ability to write and edit compelling, clear, and accurate content for diverse audiences

Impeccable attention to detail

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite

Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite

Demonstrated skills in creative design of print and electronic marketing materials

Demonstrated skills in writing

Experience in social media marketing

Demonstrated ability to take initiative, problem-solve, prioritize, and meet deadlines

Experience with Raiser’s Edge is a bonus

Demonstrated flexibility, self-motivation, attention to detail, and organization, as well as a proven record of successfully managing multiple tasks and meeting deadlines

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent from an accredited college/university, or equivalent relevant experience

Minimum 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in communications, marketing or fundraising

Able and willing to participate in periodic events outside traditional work hours, understanding that at times this position might be called upon to support other MPC events.
