Rice University is currently seeking to hire a Digital Content Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for developing, monitoring and maintaining digital content (primarily email and secondarily website content) for Rice’s Development and Alumni Relations division. You will work with in-house writers, designers and web staff to produce visually striking and user-friendly website content in a content management system. In addition, you will utilize broadcast e-mail systems to send and track a variety of segmented, mobile-optimized emails. You will track and implement volunteer-driven communications and collaborate with division partners and creative staff to execute multichannel digital marketing campaigns.

You will also consistently gather and monitor metrics to identify trends, make recommendations, and devise digital marketing strategies. Your daily responsibilities will be focused on building, testing, and executing major email marketing campaigns efficiently and expertly, supporting a wide range of high-volume messages. In addition, you will also support marketing and communications team members in executing new and existing messaging strategies.

The selected candidate will be highly organized, curious and creative, with proven experience meeting deadlines and an ability to work cross-functionally on a variety of digital projects, offering advice and expertise while remaining flexible and collaborative.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Participate in the development of the digital communication and brand strategy for a program(s), department or unit

Write, design, and coordinate the production of digital communication and marketing materials

Recommend integrated communications and / or marketing plans to meet objectives

Assist in building and / or maintaining a digital community through social media channels, blogs and the web

Assist in the design and development of graphics and web pages

Draft content used to engage constituents and grow channels

Curate digital content

Implement social listening efforts and reports back to management

Provide customer service to constituents across digital channels

Represent the organization to constituents

Compile data, analyze, and report metrics

Answer questions and addresses concerns from alumni and other university constituents through the ARA Help Desk email address

Collaborate with division partners to request, build and manage segmented email queries (lists) through the university’s CRM

Utilize the broadcast email system, Google Analytics and other content tools to track performance on campaigns year over year and make recommendations for improvement

Support and update a multi-department marketing calendar and advises on timing and segmentation of digital communications

Utilize a project management system to track tasks and collaborate with teammates

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s Degree

One year of related professional experience in a marketing, communications, social media or other closely related field

Strong oral and written communication skills

Familiar with technology (desktop and mobile devices), social platforms, current and future trends

Organized and creative

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Ability to take direction and work to meet expected deadlines and schedules

Demonstrated team player

Strong listening skills

Strong overall knowledge of broadcast email systems and processes

Proven knowledge of web production

Basic HTML/CSS experience

Microsoft Office skills

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, public relations, English, or liberal arts is preferred

Experience in higher education is preferred

Experience working with graphic designers and web staff on digital communications and social media is preferred

Knowledge of building site architecture is preferred

Experience with the web development life cycle is preferred

Content management software experience is preferred

Experience with web and email analytics is preferred

Experience with Blackbaud Internet Solutions and/or Blackbaud CRM is preferred

Some Javascript experience is preferred

Experience in a PC Windows environment is preferred
