University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston is currently seeking to hire a Donor Relations Officer. In this role, you will be responsible for working with our fundraising staff and making sure donors are getting communications and gifts that they see as warranted and valuable. In addition, you will be responsible for implementing elements of the stewardship and donor relations programs that promote engagement with and recognition of alumni, volunteers, and donors at all levels. You will sustain positive relations between the university and its donors as well as maintain ongoing and active networking with internal and external constituencies.

This is a full time role that will report to our University Center Tower on Fannin in the heart of the Texas Medical Center. The selected candidate will be eligible for full benefits including low cost health care options as well as an excellent retirement program administered by the State of Texas.


Implement an integrated donor relations program that encompasses donor acknowledgments, endowment status reports, student thank you letters, and events; verifies that all items and activities are personalized and accurate before mailing

Coordinate and manage various stewardship programs (including print, email, and outreach activities), including formatting emails in Constant Contact and maintaining relationships with vendors

Ensure approved stewardship plans and activities are implemented in a timely and efficient manner

Assist with coordinating individualized stewardship plans in partnership with gift officers as needed

Assist with updating stewardship profiles for top tier donors, ensuring timely and accurate daily processing

Coordinate mail merges and edit documents

Coordinate recognition activities for donors

Coordinate projects for recognition and engagement, including written materials, donor signage, and administrative projects

Perform other duties as assigned


Bachelor’s degree

Two (2) years of experience in a fundraising, marketing, sales, or fulfillment environment, preferably in a higher education or non-profit setting

Able to run and analyze large reports that look at what is happening with donors

Background in marketing, communications, or public relations
