The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston has been a leading cultural organization in Houston for nearly a century, and ranks nationally among the top 10 art museums in exhibition space, memberships, endowment, and attendance. The MFAH is sited on 14 acres in Houston’s Museum District, with a multifaceted campus that comprises multiple gallery buildings, a sculpture garden, an art school, and, nearby, two affiliated house museums for decorative arts. The encyclopedic collection numbers more than 70,000 works of art in a wide range of media, encompassing 6,000 years of human creativity. Currently, the Museum is engaged in a high-profile expansion project slated for completion in 2020 -- a campus transformation that is the largest cultural project under way in North America.

We are currently seeking to hire and Interactive Marketing Associate. In this role, you will monitor accuracy, relevance and creative value of digital content across all Museum platforms including social media (multiple Facebook pages, multiple Twitter accounts, Instagram, Pinterest, Google+, and Vimeo), video content, e-blast marketing, and web presence (, Google Art Project, Yelp!, etc.).

Oversees content of (coordinates implementation with IT or relevant departments)

Regularly communicates with other departments on new web features or standards

Oversees marketing video production including requests for proposals, drafting scripts, and trafficking for approvals

Posts to Social Media daily, including weekends.

Develops and executes social-media campaigns in collaboration with Head, M&C

Strategically plans and executes paid social media ad campaigns

Writes and develops each post; approx. ten posts per day

Clears with curatorial or relevant departments as needed

Responds to comments and questions from the public in a timely manner (including weekends and after hours)

Coordinates blog posting schedule in collaboration with other marketing staff; authors MFAH blogs.

Drafts ad copy and provides data for paid digital advertising.

Oversees the project management of major website projects--including website redesigns, e-commerce updates, app development, Google Art Project, etc. in coordination with IT

Regularly reports on website, e-blast, and social media analytics at a high level. Additionally, provides more detailed analytics reports for specific departments

Alerts management to any notable trends or issues

Manages the Interactive Marketing Coordinator

Manages the part-time Videographer


Fluency and demonstrated success in web and online communications, including social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Pinterest, and Google+

Writing and editing experience

Awareness of basic art and art-historical terms

Ability to meet demanding deadlines, manage multiple projects at once, interact with a broad variety of internal departments and external entities, manage and traffic multiple priorities

Strong aptitude and experience with various software design and application tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator and with various Microsoft Office products

Able to work some evenings and weekends as needed

Bachelor’s Degree

Three to five years related work experience, including in the fields of web development and management, marketing, journalism, social-media applications
