The International Facility Management Association (IFMA) is the world’s largest and most widely recognized association for facility management professionals. We are currently seeking a Graphic Designer to produce our flagship magazine on a long-term contract basis.

In this role, you will serve as the lead and sole graphic designer for the print and digital bimonthly magazine. This is an opportunity to make your mark on a magazine with a 30-year history and global readership, and to visually represent cutting-edge concepts like augmented reality and drones for building management. Issues include January/February, March/April, May/June, July/August, September/October and November/December. Estimated time commitment is approximately 60 hours per issue. This role will begin with production of the July/August 2019 issue, starting no later than May 24.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Develop compelling, professional visual design for each issue of the magazine consistent with the publication and organization brand, including original cover artwork, article layout and design

Perform image resolution checks, recommend and place images, provide illustration of infographics or article concepts, and place pre-designed ads

Provide three proofs per issue and incorporate revisions stipulated by the Editor

Supply press-ready PDFs and native design files; complete pre-press preparations and troubleshooting including digital preflight checks

Modify and add content for online publication and complete file preparation, export and troubleshooting

Provide graphics to accompany digital release of each issue (such as email banners, art for social media, etc.)

REQUIREMENTS:

Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Fine Arts or similar discipline, or three years of professional experience in print and digital publication design

Advanced skills in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator, Acrobat)

Accomplished in building and executing complex page layouts, master pages, style sheets, grids, charts/graphs and infographics

Keen design eye for layout, typography, color, balance, composition and illustration

Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, follow-through and time management skills in a deadline-driven environment
