Marketing and Sales Manager [JRP-02231]

Central Houston, Inc. is an advocate for downtown’s development and revitalization. Central Houston, in association with other entities – Central Houston Civic Improvement, Inc., the Houston Downtown Management District, and the Downtown Redevelopment Authority (TIRZ No.3) has facilitated many of the public and private projects that have transformed Downtown since the mid-1980’s.

We are seeking to hire a Marketing and Sales Manager. In this role, you will report to the Director of Economic Development and you will be a high-energy, polished business professional that is part of the Economic Development Team. You will focus on Central Houston membership, communications, programming, events, and recruitment/retention materials. The selected candidate will be able to create content (both written and video), initiate and manage appropriate social media channels, and provide regular, interesting, and vibrant information useful to our member companies. The salary range for this role is contingent upon knowledge and experience. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Work to develop membership prospects and facilitate closing deals for new members

Prepare employer recruitment materials including making presentations and developing targeted messaging on a case-by-case basis

Ensure membership marketing materials are up to date

Execute membership events including selection of event venue, program development, and management of expenditures (typically, 7-8 events per year with 50-90 attendees each)

Manage leadership development program for young professionals (CHIME) – typically, monthly meetings of the steering committee and 6-8 leadership program events per year

Point person for the Annual Meeting fundraising event, which typically attracts more than 800 attendees

Work in partnership with the organization’s leadership to secure featured speakers

Coordinate efforts with outside event planners, volunteers and internal staff

Achievement of revenue goals and event expense budget

Create regular written communications to membership regarding Downtown developments, business issues and projects led by the organization

Works to raise the visibility of the Central Houston organization and the work that it does in Downtown

Updates the Central Houston website to keep content fresh, informative and relevant

Works cooperatively with the Director of Marketing & Communications for the affiliated organizations

REQUIREMENTS:

Four-year college degree

5-7 years of marketing experience, emphasis on written communications, storytelling and social media

Sales and strong presentation skills

Event coordination experience preferred, including experience managing large events

Well organized, ability to multi-task, proactive, takes initiative

Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal skills

Keen attention to detail

Knowledge of Downtown Houston is a plus

Experienced with Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint, Adobe Creative Suites (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator) and video production
