Space Center Houston is a space exploration learning destination dedicated to revealing how science and humanity power space exploration through meaningful, moving experiences about people and the courage, innovation, and teamwork they use to expand the boundaries of that’s possible. Owned and operated by the nonprofit Manned Space Flight Education Foundation, we are the Official Visitor Center of NASA Johnson Space Center and a Smithsonian affiliate.
We are currently seeking to hire a full-time Digital Marketing Specialist. In this role, you will be responsible for producing strategic, persuasive, and engaging digital marketing content, most of which will be managing the center’s email marketing program end-to-end. You will also work closely with other staff in the Communications and Marketing Department to execute integrated, strategic digital marketing campaigns for the center’s various internal clients.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage the center’s email marketing program from end-to-end, which includes writing content, trafficking approvals with internal clients, building email marketing campaigns, and reporting on email performance
- Write, edit and publish content primarily for email marketing campaigns, but occasionally for the center’s website and blog according to our new brand voice and tone
- Perform email quality control and analyze email data as a subject matter expert to inform the center’s digital marketing strategy
- Apply email marketing best practices, including those related to email compliance regulations, designing for dark mode, accessibility, automation and audience segmentation
- Use search engine optimization principles to write and publish effective and persuasive website copy
- Curate photographs, quotes, and video to support digital content such as email campaigns, web pages and blogs
- Edit written content for key projects from other members of the Communications and Marketing Team
- Support the work of and collaborate with the Communications and Marketing Team
- Other responsibilities as assigned
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, English or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in digital marketing.
- Superior technical skills using at least one popular email marketing platform (MailChimp, Constant Contact, Emma, Wordfly)
- Proficiency in AP Style
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to self-edit while maintaining a high level of quality work
- Excellent written and verbal communications skills
- Excellent collaboration skills and a service mindset
- Passion for storytelling and creating engaging brand content
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet project schedule requirements
- Familiarity with WordPress is a plus
- Familiarity with Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems is a plus
- Bilingual Spanish is a plus with ability to read, write and speak proficiently
