We are currently seeking to hire a dynamic, strategic, and media-savvy Senior Manager of Media Relations. In this critical role, you will develop and execute media strategies that support business goals, promote our brand and leadership, and respond effectively to emerging issues. The selected candidate will report to the Director of External Enterprise Communications.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead a world-class global team of 10-12 professionals.
- Develop and implement proactive and reactive media strategies to support corporate priorities and safeguard reputation.
- Cultivate and manage strong relationships with top-tier business, financial, and trade media.
- Serve as a company spokesperson.
- Prepare and coach senior executives for media interviews and public appearances.
- Collaborate with internal teams—including legal, investor relations, and government affairs — to align messaging and ensure consistency.
- Lead media response during high-profile issues, crises, and major announcements.
- Monitor media trends, coverage, and public sentiment; generate reports and insights for leadership.
- Craft high-impact press materials including news releases, media statements, Q&As, and briefing documents.
- Oversee agency partners and ensure alignment with media relations objectives and KPIs.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in media relations, public relations, or communications, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
- Experience as a company spokesperson working directly with senior executives in a complex corporate structure, ideally within a Fortune 500 or global PR agency environment.
- Experience leading and managing a high-performing team.
- Documentable experience managing complicated reputational challenges as well as incident or crisis response.
- Proven experience handling high-stakes media relations and crisis communication.
- Strong media network and understanding of the evolving media landscape.
- Excellent writing, storytelling, and editing skills.
- Demonstrated ability to influence and partner across complex organizations.
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage with diverse stakeholders.
- Exceptional networking and relationship-building capabilities at the highest levels of media and industry.
- Advanced proficiency in media monitoring and analytics tools, with the ability to derive strategic insights.
- Proven ability to thrive under pressure and manage multiple high-stakes projects concurrently.
- Innovative thinking and advanced problem-solving skills, with a track record of successful strategic initiatives.
- Deep understanding of the global media landscape, including both traditional and emerging media platforms.
- Familiarity with the energy industry is preferred.
