Houston Grand Opera is currently seeking to hire a Senior Marketing Manager. In this role, you will report to the Director of Marketing and play a vital part within our fast-paced Audiences Department by developing advertising and promotions campaigns to increase sales, retention, and engagement efforts resulting in single ticket, subscription, and group sales. You will create collaboration among the Communications, Creative Services, Digital Marketing, and Patron Experience members of the department to reach marketing objectives including expanding to new audiences.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Build multi-channel promotions and advertising plans to support subscription and single ticket sales, as well as other events, programs, and initiatives
  • Work cross-departmentally to request and develop creative assets and messaging for all campaigns
  • Closely track and report overall campaign performance and ROI, while devising strategic recommendations regarding how to improve levels of engagement and conversation
  • Oversee email marketing strategy, calendar, and development ensuring alignment with marketing and sales initiatives, as well as a seamless process for scheduling, creating, proofing, testing, sending, and reporting
  • Develop initiatives designed to increase email subscriptions, data collection, lead generation, and social media following
  • Research and create production-specific partnerships to identify unique target audiences and increase awareness and sales
  • Ensure messaging for each department initiative is clearly communicated internally including the development of talking points for our Customer Care and Philanthropy representatives
  • Lead merchandise and promotional item efforts for department including purchasing, inventory, fulfillment, and sales efforts. Specifically, demonstrate ownership of the online Boutique operations
  • Support marketing needs of entire organization including HGO Studio, Community & Learning, Philanthropy, and Special Events
  • Support strategy, messaging and execution for all owned mediums including our website, publications, in-venue signage, marquees, etc.
  • Hire, manage, train and mentor direct reports including Marketing Manager/Coordinator
  • Reconcile all invoices and ensure initiatives are appropriately budgeted for and executed within budget

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, advertising, or sales with 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Expertise in writing is desired
  • Experience working in a CRM database system (especially Tessitura) is a plus
  • Experience in performing arts is a plus
  • Able to work some evenings/weekends
