AMA Gives Back Grants

Our Charitable Giving Mission: Helping Non-Profits Market More Effectively

Founded in 2008 as the philanthropic arm of AMA Houston, AMA Gives Back has provided more than $150,000 in grants to Houston non-profits. Grant recipients can use the funds to help with a wide variety of marketing initiatives to promote their causes – allowing them to fulfill their mission and provide support and services to Houston and its surrounding communities.

Each year, AMA distributes a portion of our chapter’s net income in the form of AMA Gives Back Grants. While the grant program has long been the cornerstone of this program, AMA Gives Back also provides members the opportunity to donate their time and talent in support of nonprofit organizations.

Congratulations to our 2022 Grant Recipients: 8 Million Stories and Nextops

At the first ever AMA Houston Casino Night, Gives Back Grants were awarded to two deserving Houston non-profits – Eight Million Stories and NextOp – to support their marketing efforts.

Casino Night was a huge success thanks to the help of our generous sponsors, donors and those that came to play! The AMA Houston Gives Back tradition of supporting non-profits that give so much continues.

Eight Million Stories seeks to transform the lives of vulnerable youth 16-21 through education, skills training, employment and social and emotional support. Over the past four years, 48% of 8MS students have earned their GED, 68% of the students enrolled in the program have been employed, 100% of 8MS students have received at least one nationally recognized vocational trade, 8% of their graduates are pursuing higher education or career training opportunities.
NextOp’s mission is to recruit, develop, and place high-performing middle-enlisted military leaders into industry careers. NextOp’s Veteran Employment Program matches each veteran candidate with an employment coordinator who works 1:1 to help them identify civilian professions that are right for them, translate their resume, prepare for interviews, and start a new career. NextOp has helped over 2,900 veterans start new careers with an avg. starting salary of $55K.

Grant applications will open January 2023!

Get Involved!

Giving of your time and talent can make a powerful, lasting impact. Each year, AMA Gives Back matches mentors with our grant recipients to help them make the most of their grant funds. Do you have a special marketing talent or passion and want to be matched up with a non-profit? Click here!

Additionally, AMA Houston participates in a Day of Giving each year where we work with a selected non-profit to help maximize their service projects. Day of Giving projects in the past have included meal prep with the Houston Food Bank, packing lunches for Kids Meals, and creating holiday kits for the children of Bridgeyear.
