This Year Two Houston-Area Undergraduate College Students Studying Marketing or Related Fields Will Receive Scholarships
HOUSTON – April 29, 2022 – AMA Houston, the leading educational information, career-building, and networking resource for Houston’s marketing professionals, today announced that the deadline for the Penny Todd Scholarship Application has been extended to May 16, 2022, with the recipients to be announced in June. This year two eligible college students studying marketing or a related field will receive scholarships. For more information and to apply, visit the AMA Houston website.
“A true servant leader, Penny Todd was passionate about giving back to the marketing community and we are proud to offer two scholarships this year in her name,” said Hami Arrington, 2021-2022 AMA Houston President. “Each year the chapter looks forward to honoring Penny by supporting other up and coming marketers. I encourage all eligible marketing college students to apply for a chance to receive one of the two scholarships.”
As 2007–2008 president of AMA Houston, Penny tenaciously sought ways to support marketing students and non-profit marketers by launching the AMA Houston Gives Back Program. After her passing in 2016, in an effort to honor Penny and build on her philanthropic vision, AMA Houston established the Penny Todd Scholarship, awarding a grand total of more than $30,000 to deserving marketing students since.
“The Penny Todd Scholarship enabled me to enter my senior year at the University of Houston-Downtown with the reassurance that the local marketing community supported me and my passion,” said Camila Sandoval, the 2020 Penny Todd Scholarship recipient. “All eligible students should apply, especially this year with two chances to be selected. I was honored to be chosen two years ago and cannot wait to see the two superstar marketing students receive the Penny Todd Scholarship this year.”
The scholarship is funded by corporate and individual donations made year-round. Financial support from the local community is vital to the success of the program. Donations are accepted on the AMA Houston website.
