The University of Houston is currently seeking to hire a Senior Graphic Designer. In this role, you will research, conceive, and design university and department publications and other print and electronic communication vehicles. The selected candidate will manage design projects and serve as university liaison for outsourced communication projects.


  • Manage publication and other communication projects from concept to completion; translates marketing objectives into creative strategies as assigned
  • Create and execute design concepts (develop artwork for materials such as brochures, invitations, and identity programs)
  • Monitor university advertising for adherence to university graphic and branding standards
  • Consult with clients to evaluate individual project needs (prepare cost and time estimates for projects, and reviews printed materials to ensure quality control)
  • Collaborate with writers, editors, marketing, photographers, and other designers on communication projects to meet strategic objectives
  • Serve as primary liaison with vendors for communication projects to ensure quality, customer satisfaction, and adherence to university graphic and branding standards
  • Provide art direction as needed for internal and outsourced projects and makes recommendations for the most effective method for meeting client’s objectives
  • Serve as team lead on design projects as assigned
  • Provide user experience (UX) and user interface (UI) design as needed for website and digital projects, collaborating with cross-functional teams to create intuitive and engaging digital experiences
  • Conceptualize and design visually compelling data visualizations that effectively communicate complex information and insights to various stakeholders
  • Develop multimedia content including interactive presentations, video graphics, infographics, and other types of rich media assets across digital platforms
  • Utilize animation techniques to enhance user engagement and storytelling in digital products, advertisements, and promotional materials
  • Collaborate and manage design projects while taking into account stakeholder feedback to optimize deliverables and executing deliverables within established timelines
  • Working knowledge of multi-media design, animation, UX/UI, and Data visualization
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned


  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Minimum of three (3) years of directly job-related experience
