We accept most health insurance plans including HMO/PPOs, Medicaid, Medicare and CHIP. We also offer programs to lower the cost of health care services.

In the last two years, we’ve added four new clinics and two state-of-the-art pharmacies, bringing our total number of locations to 36, to meet the growing demand for care. A United Way-affiliated agency, we currently provide: Adult Primary Care, Behavioral Health, Dental, Family Medicine, Geriatrics, HIV/STD Testing, Prevention and Treatment, OB/GYN, Pediatrics, Pharmacy, School Based Health Care (20 clinics in KIPP and Yes Prep schools), Social Services, Transgender Specialty Care, Vaccinations, Vision and Wellness/Nutrition.

We are currently seeking to hire a Director of Business Development & Community Engagement. In this role, you will lead the Legacy Business Development and Community Engagement (BDCE) team in acquiring, nurturing and growing strong relationships with each referral source to ensure market position and target volumes across regions and service lines are achieved. Referral sources include hospitals/health systems, government agencies, community organizations, child care organizations, schools and school districts (infant through university), and large employers, among others.

The selected candidate will have a strong business development/sales team management background, and experience in patient/client acquisition in health care, health insurance or other service-based industries.


Work with the VP of Marketing to understand and execute marketing and brand strategies across regions; supervising the training and development of the BDCE team individually and at large; leading the creation of key messaging, presentations and collateral for use by the BDCE team; and supervising the planning and implementation of strategic community events and initiatives.

Develop a strategic plan to ensure goals are met for new patient referral volumes, completed appointments and growth of marketing position, and socialize it with the entire organization.

Lead implementation of strategic plan with BDCE team.

Oversee utilization and management of customer database (FreeAgent), develop understanding of data available through agency Business Intelligence (BI) department, and use data to develop a more standardized approach to setting and assessing goals.

Develop key metrics to assess BDCE managers’ efforts against goals on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis.

Monitor and analyze BDCE managers’ efforts against goals, identify areas of concern, and implement corrective actions as needed.

Prepare and distribute regular sales reports to designated stakeholders

Assess BDCE managers’ skills and implement training on a regular basis on: CRM tool (Free Agent), professional selling skills, sales planning, process and execution, presentation skills, account development and management and social media support.

Develop, recommend and implement systems, processes, and procedures to ensure the efficient operation of the sales function in each region.

Cultivate business and industry relationships that help to support agency and BDCE team goals; attend community- and industry-related events, professional networking opportunities, etc., to support success of organization.

Identify regional marketplace trends and provide recommendations to VP of Marketing, Operational and Clinical leadership, and BDCE team to improve results.

Effectively communicate to the VP of Marketing and Operational/Clinical leadership significant events occurring in regions. Provide written reports summarizing results and recommendations on a regular basis.

Communicate with VP of Marketing, Operational and Clinical leadership, Public Health and Development to ensure community-wide teamwork occurs, goals are met, recognition is given, or corrective action is taken when warranted.

Provide direction and assist in the development of sales tools and presentations used as part of the sales program for regions and service lines; train BDCE managers on use of tools.

Develop and manage annual BDCE team budget.

Set-up and oversee the pre-sales function for new clinics and service lines in order to meet start up goals.

Assist with hiring, training, and motivating of BDCE managers as requested by VP of Marketing.

Manages BDCE staff on a daily basis through one-on-one meetings, group training and development, and on-going support.

Lead and/or attend meetings as follows: bi-weekly meetings with VP of Marketing/Marketing and Public Affairs team, monthly BDCE team meetings, monthly meetings at each site with BDCE manager and Site leadership, monthly meetings with Public Health, quarterly Operational/Clinical leadership meetings, and other meetings as determined necessary by VP of Marketing.

Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations or Health Care Administration

Able to communicate effectively with staff, community and the general public.

Seven to ten years of business development, sales and/or account management in health care and/or service industry.

Demonstrated experience in building and managing a business development or sales team, developing sales tools, conducting sales training, and utilizing CRM tools (FreeAgent) to track team efforts and create reports.

Documented success in meeting sales goals and fiscal responsibility.

Strong written and verbal communication skills; strong presentation skills.

Ability to articulate complex topics and issues concisely and accurately.

Exceptionally strong project management and superior organizational skills.

Strong writing, editing and proofreading skills.

Analytical skills to assess existing processes, promote innovation activities, and develop new initiatives.
